PRESBYTERY YOUTH COUNCIL

2007-2008

P.Y.C. Mission Statement: 

We believe that “As youth and adults we respond to God’s call through the Holy Spirit to be connected to each other, the church, and the world so that our lives proclaim with joy that Jesus Christ is Lord”.

Presbyterian Youth Connection is built on the five intentions of the Presbyterian Youth Ministry:

  • To call young people to be disciples of Jesus Christ.
  • To respond to the needs and the interests of young people.
  • To work together, youth and adults, in partnership.
  • To be connected to the whole church, community, and the world.
  • To include all young people, reaching out and inviting them to belong to the community of faith.

In Peace River Presbytery we do that through:

v     Regional Youth Clusters working together:

                             Bradenton area churches: Convener Rev. Chris Adams

                             Sarasota County: Convener Candy Reid

                             Charlotte County:  Convener Rev. Jay Mumper

                             Lee County:  Conveners Melody Frazier and Dan Oedy

                             Collier County:  Convenor James McDonald

v    Presbytery Retreats:   

                             Senior High at Cedarkirk - March 1-2, 2008

                              Middle School at Cedarkirk - November 22-23, 2008

v    Presbytery Summer Mission Trips 2008

v    Support of Church Youth Events

The current P.Y.C. Council includes youth from

the following churches:

Peace NCD, Whitfield Estates, First Arcadia, First Sarasota, First Port Charlotte, Trinity, and Moorings.
